When you sign into Habbo after the update, you may see an additional character, an "$" appended to your name. You can of course keep your new name, with the symbol, but you also have the option of changing your name.
Every Hotel has a different symbol that is added to the names of those that need changing, and you can of course keep your name with the "$"-symbol, if you prefer it like that. If you choose to change it, be aware that you can only do this once, so pick carefully!
Last week we deleted all Habbo names in the 5 Hotels that contained no Furni, Coins and had only logged in once, this means that we have a HUGE amount of free names for you to choose from!
If you have to change your name, your potential new name will be checked against all the English speaking sites for availability, so you will not have to change it again later. As already mentioned before, the most active Habbos across all five Hotels will be the ones who get to keep their names, should they clash. The others will unfortunately have to change. The name changing will be activated in all countries at the same time to avoid any country having a first pick.
You should start using Habbo ID as soon as possible so that you can log in to Habbo using your email as a username. This will make it easier for you to remember your account details if you're prompted to change your Habbo name.
Please use our
forum thread to send us any questions you may have on this, and we'll reply to them later this week.
NAME FAQs:Q: In which hotels, will Habbo names be checked and resolved for possible conflicts?A: In all our English speaking sites: UK, AU, SG, US, CA
Q: What does this name change mean in practice? What do I have to do?A: You don't have to do anything in particular. If your Habbo name is in conflict with someone else's and they are more active than you, an "$"-symbol is added to the end of your Habbo name. You can simply keep the name like that or you can change it altogether. You will be notified at login if your name has been affected. Once you change it, you cannot change it again.
Q: How can I get rid of this additional character?A: Sorry, you cannot get rid of that extra character if there is a name conflict, and you cannot get your original name back. However, you will have a chance to change your account name to something else! After changing the account name once, further name changes are not possible, so choose wisely.
Q: Is there a chance I might have to change my name again once we are merged with the rest of the Hotels?A: No, we are doing the name changes only this once, in all five Hotels at the same time.
Q: I have 3 Habbo accounts with the same name in 3 different English speaking sites, what will happen?A: Assuming there are no other players having the same account name or your account has been the most active account, one account name will stay the same and two other accounts will be appended a special character, e.g. Habboname, Habboname#, Habboname$
Q: If I own the same name in two Hotels, can I get the accounts merged?A: Unfortunately this won't be possible straight away, but we're working on a solution.
Q: Will I lose my furni, rooms, pets, badges, achievements or friend list when I change my name?A: All your furni, rooms, pets, badges, achievements and friends list will be kept intact. Your new name will be visible in your friends' friend lists as well.
